Research
Applied and practice-based research for the development of better knowledge, methodologies and tools for the effective and responsible development of IX. From exploratory research to artistic-design research.
Action Line 1 forms the knowledge base of the programme. It funds scientific and practice-based research projects that investigate the effectiveness, applicability and societal impact of IX. The insights from these projects feed into all other action lines.
More about Action line 1PRO
4-year practice-oriented research into the effects of immersive experiences.
CIIIC Start
Small-scale exploratory research into immersive experiences: short projects that explore new research directions, often as a stepping stone towards a larger Kern project.
ADRIE
Artistic and design research in immersive experiences. For artists, designers and creative professionals exploring the boundaries of IX.
CIIIC Kern
Demand-driven, practice-oriented research into immersive experiences. Consortia of universities of applied sciences and businesses work together on research questions that come straight from practice.
Talent & Skills
Expanding and strengthening the talent pool to conceptualise, build and apply IX. Through learning communities, training vouchers and educational modules.
Talent & Skills is ultimately about the Dutch labour market: making sure there are enough well-trained professionals to staff the growing IX sector. The foundation is laid through learning communities in which education, research and industry learn and train together. Market-oriented training modules and training vouchers build on that foundation, bringing knowledge and craftsmanship to the wider field.
More about Action line 2Learning Communities
This scheme brings together innovation, learning and working, so that professionals can further develop their knowledge and skills in the field of immersive experiences. Four-year projects by consortia from research, education and practice.
Market-oriented Training Modules
Building on what is learned in the learning communities, CIIIC works with sector frontrunners to develop practice-oriented training modules for the wider IX field.
Training Vouchers
In collaboration with Regieorgaan SIA, a voucher programme is also being developed for training and further training in immersive experiences.
Facilities
Building a strong, interconnected Dutch IX innovation ecosystem. Regional IX Labs provide infrastructure for research, education, training and experimentation.
Action Line 3 builds the physical and digital infrastructure for IX development. IX Labs offer makers and researchers access to advanced equipment, testing environments and expertise. These facilities form the backbone on which all other activities build.
More about Action line 3Thematic iX Labs
The Thematic iX Labs bring participants together around a specific theme to explore jointly how immersive experiences can be put to use.
Regional iX Labs
IX Labs form a digitally connected national network of facilities for research, experimentation and the development of new immersive experiences.
Entrepreneurship
Projects around the design, production, application and impact of IX, bringing together public and private organisations. Consortia develop solutions for concrete societal challenges.
Action Line 4 connects IX makers with end users. Through Innovation Impact Challenges, consortia work on concrete societal issues from launching customers. Here, IX innovation is transformed into working solutions with proven impact.
More about Action line 4Synergy & Coherence
Coherence and synergy between the action lines, connecting parties in the IX ecosystem. From innovation agenda to knowledge platform, from public values to community and events.
Action Line 5 ensures the connection between all programme components. Through community building, events, knowledge sharing and communication, we strengthen the network and ensure that acquired knowledge is broadly shared across the ecosystem.
More about Action line 5CIIIC Community
