CIIIC Start
Small-scale exploratory research into immersive experiences: short projects that explore new research directions, often as a stepping stone towards a larger Kern project.
CIIIC Start is the small-scale, exploratory funding scheme within CIIIC for practice-oriented research into immersive experiences (IX). With short projects, consortia can quickly explore new research directions, test hypotheses and build partnerships, often as a stepping stone towards a larger CIIIC Kern project.
What is CIIIC Start?
CIIIC Start makes it possible to find out, with a limited investment and in a short space of time, whether an idea or research direction holds promise. The funding scheme is designed to explore new questions before they are scaled up into a longer, larger-scale programme, and to bring together partners who have not worked with one another before.
Who is CIIIC Start for?
The funding scheme is aimed at researchers at universities of applied sciences and universities, immersive makers and public organisations who want to carry out a first, exploratory study together. As with CIIIC Kern, the application is submitted by a researcher affiliated with a higher education institution.
What does the funding scheme fund?
A grant of €50,000 per project is available for a short-term exploratory study. The partners' own contribution amounts to 25% of the total project costs, lower than for CIIIC Kern. The available budget and the exact conditions are set for each application round.
Applying and carrying out the work
CIIIC Start has multiple application rounds. The funding scheme is run by Regieorgaan SIA, where you will find the full call text, conditions and application procedure for the current round. See the editions below for the current and previous application rounds.
